What Can You Do? Start By Emailing Your Representatives
Even if you don't think they'll listen, at least you will have done something.
Out of downright frustration and exasperation that the latest proposed tax plan will lower taxes only for the richest 1% and significantly raise taxes for the rest of us, coupled with a tariff that will increase the cost of goods from Canada, Mexico, and China, I sent the following to my representatives. However I live in Florida, where party loyalty seems more important than representing the people. So, I sent it to every moderate Republican in the Senate, as well.
Use it, copy it, adapt it for your use. Share with anyone who doesn’t know what else to do.
I write with a deep passion for our nation’s founding principles and a steadfast belief in the Constitution, urging you to cast aside partisan pressures and vote against a budget that, as detailed by the Congressional Budget Office (https://www.cbo.gov) and the Tax Policy Center (https://www.taxpolicycenter.org), unfairly favors the richest 1% while burdening the middle and lower classes.
The data is clear: regressive tax policies not only widen the wealth gap but also erode the very trust in government that is essential for our democracy’s survival.
Now, more than ever, your courageous vote can restore balance and uphold justice—an act that will resonate far beyond your terms in office and secure the legacy of a fair, united America.
Please let reason and the enduring promise of equality guide your decision, for in this defining moment, the fate of our nation truly rests in your hands.
And if I should be so bold as to request one more thing, the confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy as Surgeon General and Tulsi Gabbard as National Security Advisor would be detrimental to the health and safety of the entire United States population.
Most Sincerely,
Wendy Wawrzyniak
